Half Baked Goods

Poets are a dime a dozen,

and the dimes are not even silver anymore.

Whomsoever bakes them will

even throw in an extra one

for your trouble,

lucky number thirteen.

Trouble is what you get,

trust me, with poets.

Never trust a poet.

If they live long enough

they not only do not do

the work, but they are not

even fun anymore.

You do not suppose

they have finally learned

wisdom and doing nothing

is the right thing to do?

That cannot be it.

About johnsmithiiimxiii

John Smith, IIMXIII is the avatar of an award winning poet, artist, etc. who still lives in the Palouse country of the Pacific NW. He has not received much notice with his prose . . . but as his avatar, I hope that he keeps plugging along.
